For 33 years the drain never made a sound when we flushed the upstair toilets since I repaired the main pipe to the basement ,I found a cut elbow that looked like it was 33 years old ,replaced all the line from kitchen sink to basement it did not have a vent and I baseically copied what I took out later to find out there was no vent... Can I put a AAV between the drain line and trap to eliminate this =burpping sound , and put the AAV under the sink?
You could. My kitchen sink burps and gurgles, due to some time ago before we bought the house, whoever did the kitchen cabinets, cut the lead pipe for the vent. It is on my list of things to fix, when we start ripping out the cabinets, but right now, I am living with it, and have for the past 9 years.

We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
