Buildup on sump pump float

Every 6 months or so my sump pump stops working because of a white build up on the float. There is also a lot of this solid "white stuff" on the walls and the pump itself. There are no toilets that drain into the sump basin, however my washer, dishwasher, and sink do drain into it. Does anybody know what causes this and how to prevent it?

looks like a huge amount of soap scum, maybe calcium as well from hard water.

The way to prevent this is to drain the grey water from the home into the septic where it belongs.

Is it actually a SUMP, or is it a sewer basin intended for discharging the fixtures you listed?

At any rate, it's soap buildup and grease.

Are the fixtures in question high use? Having the basin sitting for lengthy periods of time can cause the buildup to form more rapidly. They are designed to be used frequently.

we used to put the laundry tub sumps in in western ny. but it only handled the washing machine and laundry tub. change your laundry soap and or your DW soap and see if it makes a difference.
