Broken hot water in shower.

My mother has been living without the shower in her bedroom since a cousin of hers yanked on the handle while exiting the shower because she had it set too hot. The cold water still flows through but the hot water doesn't work at all. Could she have bent something connected to the pipes? Will the piece in the wall connected to the water pipes need to be replaced? Where do I go for a replacement part? And is this a do it yourself job? She's 77 years old and doesn't need to be climbing in and out of a whirlpool tub in the main bathroom. Help.

Broken hot water in shower.

What type of faucet is it? How many handles does it take to operate it?
A picture would be in order for sure.
