hi, i think my shower diverter is broken. it is on top of the tub spout/facuet. what will happen is when i pull the diverter up to put it on shower mode half of it will be on shower and half of it will be on bath. i think i need to replace it but i dont know how for the only way it seems i would have to replace it would be by pulling out the entire tub spout. URGENT! NEED HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! very confused

heres some pictures of the tub spout and diverter on top of it:

i believe if you get a good grip on that with both hands and turn it counter-clockwise, it'll come off, that's a normal looking spout to me. check the bottom first to see if there's a set screw (allen). if so, loosen or remove it first. then just go to any bigbox or local hdwr store and buy another. follow simple directions and install. =o)

As dangermouse said, it should unscrew counterclockwise. Installing a new diverter should fix your problem and is not a difficult task.
