Broken/cracked kitchen drain line under house

Hi everyone! Need some plumbing advice.

It appears that our kitchen drain line is cracked or broken underneath the foundation. The line runs back from the sink, down through the basement and into the foundation (we've checked the line between the basement floor up to the sink, so we are pretty sure that the issue is underground). We are also pretty certain that it's just the kitchen drain, and not the sewer main (none of the other drains/sinks/toilets in the house have been backing up or drain slow at all). Rather than tearing up the foundation, we are wanting to just run the kitchen line from where it comes through the basement ceiling and connect it to one of the big 3" drain lines.

So, my question is what is the best way to cap the kitchen line that runs into foundation? Should we cut it down and cement over it? Install a cap? Is there a possibility of future issues with a "dead line" under the house that's possibly broken still connected to the sewer main?

Thanks in advance for anyone's advice!

Josh

What makes you think it is broken under the floor? It just may be clogged. Install a clean-out above the floor (if one does not exist) and have the line snaked or jetted. A camera inspection will very if it is broken or not.

There is a cleanout installed. We've had a plumber out to unclog it once and he was bringing up mud and clay and suggested there was probably a problem with the line. Two months later it was backing up again. I snaked it out this time and was bringing up the same stuff. We've also had a few different plumbers out for estimates/opinions. We are pretty confident the issue is under the house.

I still think a camera inspection will give you a definitive answer.

cut it a few inches above the cleanout and glue a cap on it.
