Is is acceptable to use braided steel flex line for a propane installation of a Vent free fireplace. I would prefer not to have to do the traditional black pipe route. I only need to go about 30 feet into the house from the tank. I was hoping this is acceptable and then try to find a supplier who can provide me with the line with fittings on the end.
Interesting, I've not seen a "braided steel line" for use with either natural or LP gas. I am familiar with the CSST, Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing. This has the yellow plastic covering over it. As JB posted: Check your local codes--in my area it is illegal, by code, for a homeowner to run any gas line--PERIOD. BUT- our local Lowe's, but not HD, sell the CSST and all the fittings to anyone who wants to buy them. Go figure.
