Bathtub spout/shwoer head and taps Dropping Down?

Hi.

In our bathroom we have a basic shower head, single lever hot/cold and a basic spout. Recently the caulking around the water lever and the spout have been breaking away and pealing off. Further inspection I realize that the pipes seem to be dropping down. (This is probably due to my wife having those large shampoo shelves hanging from the shower head).

How can I fix this? What actually holds the pipes up as I'm not to sure how they frame behind the tub area? Is there something I can get to reinforce the shower head pipe so it'll resist dropping down?

Removing the shampoo shelve is not an option.

Normally the pipes for the shower head and tub fixtures are attached to cross members in the wall framing.

Do you have an access hatch on the back side of the tub to get to the plumbing?

No access. Its my 2nd floor bathroom and I would have to cut a hole in to get access.

The shower head normally has a bronze flange with a nail hole in it to attach to framning behind the wall.

You may be able to pull back the trim escutheon from the shower head and peek behind it to see if the flange has come loose.

Enlarge the hole some if needed and you may get a screw in it and still have the trim cover it.

Is it tile or drywall around the shower head?

Where an access hatch would need to be cut is it located in a closet/less than obvious area?

Bath is tiled.

Access would be a closet in a bedroom.

I'll enlarge the hole and see what I can find.
