BathTub Spout issues
I would like to replace the bathtub spout but the spouts we looked at lowes or home depot are completely different than the one we have. I'm not sure what I need to do to find one to replace the old one. Looks like there's an adapter on the copper piping coming out of the house that 1inch in diameter.
Any help would be appreciated. |

It looks like you have a delta brand tub valve. I believe that brass threaded piece is soldered in the copper stubout. If you have the tools and know-how, you can remove it, but you will have to use a torch. If you get it removed, slip on spouts are available.
If you don't think you can remove it you will have to replace it with another delta tub spout. And you will probably have to go to a plumbing supplyhouse to obtain it. Good Luck!! |

I agree, it looks like the Delta tub spout that came with my new set- only older. I believe that will just unscrew off the nipple. I would try channel lock pliers or a 1/2" inside diameter wrench may work. If the insert is in good shape, it might be worth your while to just find a replacement spout. The design is to make it easier to screw the spout on tight enough and still have it pointing downward.
