bathtub drain pipe leaking!

Hello, my bathtub drain pipe is leaking(where the copper pipe connects the PVC pipe). I am wondering if some one knows how to fix that. It is almost in the slab and very difficult to reach.

The picture is at: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_P...0/CIMG0496.JPG

Ayuh,... It looks like the metal pipes are Rotten,...
Rip it all out, 'n replace it with PVC tubing, 'n fittings...

I saw the picture---where exactly is the leak? Is it leaking where the brass drain set meets the whiite PVC?

Is the white pipe leaking below that at the slab?

Actually it is between the brass "ring" and the brass pipe. Hope the pic will work. It is where the arrow points at.

the white pipe seems not leak.

Yeah, that's my plan. But I don't know how to disconnect the brass pipe and the white pipe... I tried to use the wrench to turn the brass "ring", but it didn't work...

You can break that old nut loose---you need a pipe wrench and a big pair of channel locks---might be a squirt of wd-40 also---

I suggest you replace the old drain set completely---By the time you get the thing apart enough to replace the bad washers---you might as well put in a new drain set.

The only tool you need that you don't own is a drain wrench---it looks like an aluminum dog bone--Cobra Prod. PST170 Tub Drain Remover

That is used to remove/install the chrome ring inside the tub.

Other than that tool--all you need are two pairs of channel locks a saw to cut the tubing and the usual screwdrivers and such.

You will need a small tub of plumbers putty, also.

I got the plier, the drain wrench and WD40. They did work!!!

After I took all those parts off, I realized why there was leaking. The PVC pipe in the ground is so short and it barely touches the Tee fitting.

Is there some kind of coupling I can use to connect the brass Tee fitting and the PVC pipe?

or is there longer Tee fitting I can use?

Thanks!
