I was going to have my bathtub regulated, the final step of a bathroom remodel, and when they went to do it, found a hole at the drain. They didn't want to patch it because they knew it was a temporary fix. I appreciated his honesty, but he said I would need a new tub and would have to rp,ace half the tile around it. Is there an alternative?

If the tub is rusted through it must be replaced----So, If you could post a picture,we can get you the best plan of action---

Even a description of the layout if you can't post pictures---

How did a tub with a hole other than the drain end up being "The final step"

And what does "regulated" mean? Do you mean relined?

I absolutely hate those "Bathfitter" Outfits, if that is what you are doing. Its
like painting dirt. When a bathroom is ready to be remodeled, it should ALL be remodeled. Piping, valves, fixtures etc. Those components are what wears out.
