Chemicals are a waste of time and money (but you figured that out). What type of snake did you buy?

You need a 1/4" power snake with more torque. Should be cabled through the overflow, you're hitting the trap. Is it old cast iron or galvanized?

dont really know i live in an apartment building, but i bought a 1/4 inch one with a hand cranking mechanism like a peddling a bike if that makes sense to you, I am going to try plunging it with the wet rag covering the overflow and see what happens( saw it online?)

If you live in an apartment building why are you messing with it? Call the landlord(lady)
