Bathroom sink is clogged.

I have two bathrooms with two sinks back to back. They are clogged. I have used drain cleaner and a pipe snake. I think the clog is where these two lines meet. Any ideas?

well... you could try a phone book, look toward the "P" section... or maybe try the search button at the top of the page since this has been covered many, many times. or if that's too much for ya, snake it where they meet and go farther down the line. just my .02

I can't get the snake to go down the clogged line, it keeps going to the other sink. I'm on here so I don't have to look in my phonebook in the "P" section. DIY right?

Can you disconnect the waste line and send the snake down the remaining pipe? Generally clogged drains are a simple matter. If you post a pic it might help. I have found liquid drain cleaners to be useless. If the pipes are old and seem thin (you can poke a hole through them by gently probing with a screwdriver) this would be a good time to replace them. Easy and insurance against a messy leak in the future.

You may need to cut into the pipes to get to the clog. If there is no access, you may have to cut one. Wherever that may be easiest.

Maybe I was a bit harsh... Take the piping under the sink apart, look inside with a flashlight. Normally, you'll see a double san tee. Straight across will be the other sink, up is the vent, and down is the drain. You have to put a bend in the cable and make it go down the drain. If you look in there and its a 90, you're out of luck. I normally cut into the wall and add a cleanout on the vent

climb on roof if you have a small stack above the fixtures blow on it ,if its tight


get a 20ft length of 1/2 " pvc pipe stick down stack you outa get it unless

stack has an off set, if so go back to fellow that said call the P

2 lavs are not going to have separate vents when they are right next to the wc's, and a plunger won't do $*it except poke a small hole in it. OP is on the right track with the cable... 1/2" PVC???

the_man's method is spot on. tried and tested. The trick is bending the cable just right to get it to go down and not across.
