Flush with what?

dallas10 01-05-2012 11:10 PM

i installed a new faucet in bathroom sink. when i screwed water trap in, it left a gap in sink where water drains. i caulked around trap, but it looks like water might sit around caulk.

If you mean the sink bowl to the drain, it's not tight enough.
There should not be a needs for any caulking.
You did use the flat rubber washer under the lip of the drain, right?

i do have a clear plastic washer that i didn't know what to do with, could that be it.

Have you looked at the directions?
I've never seen a plastic one except one that was suppost to go between the nut on the bottom and the big tapered sealing ring ounder the sink.
It acts as a slip ring so the seal ring does not try to turn as you tighten it.
If there is no washer then plumbers puddy is used under the lip. Not on top of it or around it.

i dont see any other washer, and yes that plastic piece did come from underneath. i'll put it back on and will get some plumbers putty. thanx joecaption you've been a big help !!!
