Bath Tub: repair VS replace

The fiberglass bathtub has one large crack and a couple of small cracks. Itís been leaking for some time. Wood rot has resulted in lack of support under the tub. Repair man wants $300 to fix. His plan was to drill holes in the tub and inject foam that will fill the space and give support. Then fix the cracks by attaching fiberglass with a resin. After drilling the holes, he found that the wood rot was bad enough that it would stop the foam from filling the area as needed. So he is just going to fix the cracks and forget about the support issue. Is $300 reasonable? He said that it would cost thousands for a total replacement of the tub/shower. Is this true?

I wouldn't begin to guess what the replacement cost would be. I have no clue as to how the bathroom walls, floor, etc. would be impacted or how much of the work you want to do- after all, this is a DIY site
I will say that I don't trust his method of repair and you really need to address your rotten sub floor issue.
Seriously consider replacement. Find some reputable contractors to look at it if you don't want tackle the work yourself.
