Bath fixture removal

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone has seen these, but I need to know if there is a shutoff, besides the main. I'm trying to take down the tile tonight and need this off the wall.

Could the shut off be inside the wall?

Just the wall to the bedroom No access panel. Looks like I'll have to break around it to find out.

If there is no shut off, I'll have to shut off the main. Once the main is off, How can I cap these pipes?

Find your main shut off and then cap the what looks like 1/2" nipples at the 90's. If the pipes are CPVC- be careful that you don't tork and break them

Any suggestions on what type of cap to use? Also, am I cutting off the 90s and capping the straight pipe, or the 90s themselves?

What type of CPVC cap can I put on these pipes after I remove the fixture? Can someone send me a link from HD, possibly?

Thanks for the link. Use the same primer and cement that you use for regular PVC?

HD has some CPVC cement. You may be able to find a threaded cap that you can put right on the end of that 90*. I doubt you will end up keeping the pipes that are there now. What kind of mixing valve are you installing?

CPVC caps with CPVC cement.

Once the water is off at the main... and you've completed the demo install your line caps as far back and away from the work area as possible.

When you're ready to rebuild the wall and rough in...
add valves and a hatch nearby.

If you just want a temporary cap w/o using cement, you could use a sharkbite. Easy on, easy off.

I found the 1/2 screw caps. Used some teflon tape, wrench tight, no leak.
