Hello everyone.....
After a few days of busting up the old concrete slab in my basement and trenching out areas for the new drains I have a couple questions / concerns I was hoping to get some help on.
1st off, my home was built in the mid 40's so there is nothing but cast iron and clay piping running through out. I wish to swap ALL under slab drains with ABS or PVC etc etc. I will be installing a full bathroom at S/E corner of basement and a laundry area at the N/W corner of the basement.
So 1st question is......
Since there is a 3" main stack shooting down the center wall on the N side of the home can I vent into this stack for my laundry area approximately 12ft away along front wall at the N/W side via a 3x3x1.5" TEE? Im guessing this would be considered a "wet vent". This stack continues straight up thru the home and out the roof which also picks up a toilet & vanity on above floor.
2nd question.......
For my bathroom on the S/E side of home when running drains under the slab is it proper practice to tie in vents of tub, toilet, vanity "under slab" then have only 1 1.5" line running up the wall into existing vent stack (which is used for kitchen above).... OR do I make seperate runs for venting each fixture directly up into framed walls then connect all three (one into another) in line than into the existing vent stack.
Obviously I am not a licensed plumber but I do have plenty of experience with installing / repairing various types of plumbing etc etc. However, breaking up my concrete basement and trenching for new lines is surely the biggest job I have tackled all at once to date.......
Asking some of the people at Home Depot or Lowes for any advice regarding this topic is like asking my little old widowed Italian neighbour who does NOT speak a word of english....."THERES JUST NO USE"........lol
I will try to post some pics....meantime any help with this would be great.
Thank you !!
