basement toilet

I am going to refinish my basement and I am planning on putting a bathroom in. I want to put a toliet in about two feet away from where a pvc soil stack goes into the floor of the basement. I am wondering what options I have here. Can I bust some of the floor out and tee into the pipe there for the toliet? My other idea was to raise the floor up a bit and tee into the pipe above the floor. Is venting going to be an issue here also? I really want to avoid an upflush toliet or anything like that. Thanks for your help.

If the soil stack runs into the floor chances are you can tie into it below the slab. Yes, you will need to vent the toilet, sink, and shower.

Is there a standard way to vent basement fixtures? I know the soil stack vents to the roof. Do basement fixtures just have a vent sticking out the side of the house?

You can not vent out the side of a house. You may be allowed to use AAVs depending on your local codes. They will have to have access panels though. Your other option is to run another line up and tie into an existing stack for your vent.

Thanks for your help. I've heard of AAV's before but I forgot about them until you mentioned them. That should do it as long as my local codes allow it.
