I am planning to finish off our basement this winter. The home is under 10 yrs old. There are 2 sump pump wells in the home, one is the primary and has a pump installed. The second just has a few inches of water in it and no pump. They are in opposites corners of the basement. No functional issues and the space is dry.
There are 3 PVC pipes sticking out of the ground close to the secondary well. One is 3.5", one 2" and one 1.5". I assume the 3.5 in diameter is the toilet drain.
To verify this, I ran a hose into this drain and found that the water drained into the secondary sump pump well!
Any idea what is going on here? Why are there 2 sump pump wells?
