Basement floor drain back-up
I have a basement floor drain that backs up only when I do laundry. There is a bathroom downstairs also and the toilet gurgles when this happens. It does not back-up when I use the bathroom in the basement only when I use the washing machine. Also, it has not backed up during the torrential rains we've had in the past few days. Any suggestions?

Do you have it vented from anywhere? There could be a clog on down the vent line past the toilet and when it's trying to suck air, it gurgles the water a little bit in the toilet. You may wanna send a snake down your vent if you have one.

with the volume of water draining from a washing machine, it could be you have a partial clog in the pipe and it can't take the full force of the washer when its draining. You might want to send a snake down the drain pipe to clean it out, or use the liquid drain cleaner option.
