Basement Drain + Carpet
I am almost done with finishing my basement. The carpet comes next week.
I have a "grey water" drain off to the side of the basement. This drain runs to the drain tile into the sump. I don't think the drain has ever had anything poured DOWN it, the only time it's even been used is when the sump pump died a few years ago and the water came UP through it. I try to flush it every once in a while because the water that is in there gets very nasty and funky.
Question is: I have to carpet over this drain (it's in the middle of the room). I will measure where it is in case I need to pull the carpet back in case of a flood. Should I just cap this drain off or should I leave it as is under the carpet (with the metal drain cover on)? There is another drain over by the furnace that is also a grey water drain to the sump.
Just put a cap/plug in it. Thats what I would do.
