basement bathroom

Need Help. We are putting a bathroom down our basement. Nothing is stubbed in. We are starting from scratch. I learned that I need to vent the bathroom. Looks like I can run a 1 1/2" line up and over to the main stack in the basement. There is an open cap we can remove and attach our 1 1/2" for vent. Does this sound like this would be adaquite for venting this small bathroom. The distance from the new bathroom and the stack is maybe 15'.

No, a toilet needs a 2" vent. Also sounds like you want to tie the vent back to the drain stack that serves fixtures upstairs. Can't do that either. But some pictures of your existing pipes will help us give some clearer answers. Also codes vary across the country. Where do you live?

If there isnt any other plumbing in the basement the vent will need to be tied in above the highest fixture in the house to be legal.

I'm not a fan of AAV's, especially if I can vent it properly. In my state they are not accepted, yet I can drive 40 minutes away to another state and convince that inspector to accept them in some cases. Go figure.. Best to talk to your Ohio inspector about them.
