Basebord casing replacement

T house was built in 1950s they turned the garage into and extra room and added another garage in the 80s. Now I am on the last room finally and the base board was half missing the front panel cover. So I figured I would get new enclosures for this room to give it a new completed look. Purchased the enclosures at lowes and came home the brackets won't it on the fins. My fins measure 3" inches where the bracket with the enclosure measure 2.5" inches. So they can support the fins but won't snap on. Would this be an issue? I can't find out where I can get these enclosures with 3 inch brackets they don't give this information on the product pages.
