which Ball Valves for potable water?

Can someone tell me what health and safety standard(s) you should look for when choosing a ĺ inch brass or bronze ball valve for a potable water line? ( I live in Pennsylvania). I think I screwed up when I just sweated in 2 Full Port Apollo Bronze Ball valves on each side of my whole house sediment filter.

I picked Apollo model 77C-204 which (unfortunately) I just noticed has no NSF-61 certification at all. They came with a little tag that says they meet the requirement of the EPA Safe Water Drinking Act - but my understanding is that you should really use valves that are NSF-61 compliant for potable water.

You see some valves that are advertised as Potable Water Service that are NSF/ANSI 61-8 compliant. Is that what you are supposed to look for? I am planning to un-sweat those valves and put in 2 valves that are NSF-61 compliant, but I donít want to overreact and I havenít yet asked our township inspector what is permitted (I guess I should have done that first).

Then there is the whole California low-lead thing that confuses me even more (even though I donít live in Ca.).

Any help would be much appreciated.

As far as California is concerned, there is nothing man made that can be sold in California.

As far as the valves go, I would only be concerned if you are worried about forgetting something on your shopping list when you are 150 years old, but then you will probably have other problems by then.

It is my opinion that your are seriously over reacting.

Totaly a none issue.
I just had som one give me a wallet, 100% leather.
There was a tag in it that stated the materials used may cause cancer per the state of CA.

hey guys - thanks a whole lot. I really mean it. You made my day.

I was praying some knowledgeable folks would say something like you did. I'm leaving things alone.
