Ball cock valve adjusting screw in toilet tank

Please tell me that I'm right on this one but I don't do this for a living so I'm asking...
To lower the water level in your toilet tank, you turn the adjusting screw on top of the ball cock valve clockwise. This lowers the float (big black ball) and reduces the water level/amount in the tank.
Right?

Yes. You could also bend the rod the ball is connected to downward if the screw didn't get you to where you would like it to be.

Ball cock valve adjusting screw in toilet tank

Thanks! It worked! Now my tank has the appropriate level of water - 1" from top of overflow tube.
I've read 2 DIY websites that say turn the screw counterclockwise to lower, and this is wrong advice.
