Bad odor from sink

Ok so I noticed a bad odor from my kitchen sink. My sink is a double stainless steel with pcv drain. Just installed about 2 months ago. I pored straight bleech in the sink and let it sit for 15 min. I just did that an hour ago. So I'm not sure if it worked. Maybe some food? But I'm used to the smell now since I been home all night. When I get home tomorrow from work I'll be able to tell. Any ideas?

Hmm, pouring straight bleach into the sink may not be a good idea since many have said that it will eat away at the PVC pipe, although the trap is easily replaced.

I heard that grinding a lemon in the garbage disposal is a good way to get rid of the smell.

Does the sink have a disposal - the most likely cause of odors. If yes run a lot of ice through it to break up any particles and then a lemon as recommended above. There is also a specific disposal cleaning product that is sold at lowes/HD, etc. that you run through them - does a pretty good job of clearing out the smells.

You can take the drain apart under the sink & clean out the gunk.. It will work for a while... I have the same prob. my dishwasher is tied to sink drain.. I just use a little bleach now & then

I don't have a garbage disposal. I said a double stainless steel sink with obviously 2 drains into one trap.

If the trap isn't full enough, you'll get some poop gas making its way back to the drap.

Had one that was due to food trapped in the dishwasher drain line that feeds the sink drain. Had to flush it through the air break.
