Back up Sump Pump

Had a watch gaurd for about 10 years, maintained battery every year or so, never failed me when it was needed, and it was needed a couple of times. I did go out and get a second battery to connect in parrallel, so I had lots of longevity.

I have heard that sealed battery's last longer, rather than the acid type like in the WD, I also know they make pumps that work in the event the main pump fails, lots of different options here

Test the backup pump every once in awhile. (Turn off the power to the "main" pump for a few fill/empty cycles.)

The basement watchdog charger system has a probe that is inserted into the battery which alarms if the electrolite gets low (bout once a year) fill with distilled water and its good to go.

Well when I bought mine, big box store, don't really remember how much but I believe it was around $250 10 years ago, and an extra battery was another $70 but that was like 8 years later, as a just in case kind ot thing.
