aqua brass shower valve question

This shower valve has only one shut-off screw (hot water) but the cold water side has a silver insert...not a screw (see pic) so I can't shut the cold water off. Am I missing something???

Sorry--never saw one with one screw---

Looks like they had PEX on the tub spout---That can cause the shower head to dribble---

Neither have I. Is it possible for you to take it back?

looks like a defective mixer to me ....what do you other guys think,...take it back ..or at least ask to see another mixer and compare...??????

I second Ben's suggestion.

I haven't heard of that before:eek: Why would that be?

Anyway, thanks all for the responses. I took the picture to the store and they recommended I send it to Aquabrass tech support. The store manager thinks it is defective also. I will let you know what transpires!

Why does all of that matter?

It is a single handle valve. The cold is probably set to wide open and the hot is adjustable so that you can facilitate a "blend" and don't scald yourself. Does it work otherwise?

I guess I'm the one missing something.

unless the cartridge has to be changed. Question is..why put a screw shutoff only for hot supply?

Better question is, why do people purchase high end..triple price, non replaceable products when MOEN, or Delta sell similar products with lifetime warrantees?

The tub spout needs to be hard piped---the minor restriction caused by the PEX fittings is enough to cause water to back up into the shower head---common problem---use copper or threaded for the spout--

That's more like it! It was defective from the store.

Changed the spout connector too...thanks Mike:thumbsup:

Glad to see that pipe----that is common enough that I know about it (and PEX isn't used around here)

Pleased to help---Mike---

Sure makes more sense, I'll agree with that.
