Any way to put a 33" wide sink in a 38" wide hole?
We have a 33" stainless steel sink that we would like to replace our current sink but our current sink measures in at about 38" side to side. The front to back measurements and the depth of the smaller sink work, it is just the side to side measurement that we are short. Replacing counter is not an option at this time. We were wondering if there was some kind of metal strip that we could have placed on the sides of the 33" wide sink to make it work? Anyone ever heard or seen this done or have another idea to make the smaller sink work?
Thanks! Natalie |

A friend said he would recommend cutting a piece of wood to fill the gap and laminate it with same color (if possible) or a contrasting color. Glue it in then brace it with a piece of wood underneath to keep it level and stable.
Hmmmmmm. . . |

Nope not going to work for many reasons.
Just find a new sink that's the size you need, there's thousands to choose from. By the time you bought the new formica, glue, materials and tools to just just patch it you could have almost bought a new preformed top. |

(38-33)/2 = 2.5" wide wooden structural supports on each end. The volume of the sink will tell you how strong these need to be. Water weighs about 8 lbs/gal and 62 lbs/cu ft.
For the cosmetics and waterproofness of the sink surround I'd look for a shop that cuts plexiglas to your dimensioned drawing. |

first option find sink that fits or that is larger than whole
have a solid surface piece made that will sit on old counter with cut out for new sink and turn it into under mount route flutes into solid surface top to create a built in drainboard top http://www.countertopsinc.com/corint...gralDrainboard
