Anode rod removal


How can I remove anode.I have a Rheem electric water heater and I wanted to inspect anode but I don't understand how it comes out.I have a flat "cap" over where I think it is..will it just pop off??

Your gonna have to give us more details about which model of heater you have.

There are at least 37 Rheem electric water heater models that I know of and even though most are pretty similar, there are many different ones.

Anode rod removal


Just make sure you shut off the water and electicity to be safe. let it cool release the preasure, may as well drain the tank and clean it out sametime too, i think a wrench or socket will get it out. If I recall, once it's out, you can just saw it off? Why do you want to take it out. We have well water and those rods make the water smell like rotten eggs, we take them out so the water don't stink.. is that your case?
Make sure you refill the tank before turning the electric bank on..
