All shower fixtures loose, what to do?
I have a shower where both the shower head and the spout are loose in the shower wall. It feels like I can push the whole shower assembly behind the shower wall back and forth about a half inch.
My plan now is to simply use silicone sealant to seal the spout and the shower head escutcheon to the shower wall. I am still concerned that this would leave potential leaks, since the parts can still move. What do you think? |

yes you need to secure it... silicon is not good enough.... how do you secure the pipes without breaking the wall...?
if I were you, I would at least open up the shower facuet cover and see what can be done there... may be some sort of clamps can be installed there... hopefully... well I would say this is due to bad installation of the shower plumbing... you may need to open up the wall at the end... |

No, the wall is an outside wall on the second floor.
It is a plastic tub shower. I suppose the only way to do the job right is to rip out the whole thing, I don't suppose one can cut out a section of plastic wall and replace it. Or can you? I think I will have to do a temp silicone job and keep a eye out for leakage downstairs. I will look behind the shower arm escutcheon. But I believe its only a tiny space there. |
