Agway water softener system

I have an older model Agway water softener system. It has 3 tanks, a potassium permanganate tank, the brine tank ( the one that holds the salt), and the tall skinny tank ( not sure what it's called). The brine tank is not getting any water and the salt has not moved for weeks. I set the regeneration dials to regenerate as often as possible since we have 8 people living in our house. Our water is leaving our dishes cloudy and spotty and is very hard.

Thanks for any suggestions.

There should be another tall skinny tank.
If you are using pot perm then there should be a tall skinny tank for it that has green sand.
For the salt tank there is a another tall skinny tank that has the softener resin.

How long has this been going on?

is either the salt or pot perm getting used?

The salt is not getting used and I'm not sure about the p.p. because we haven't filled it for quite a while. (Actually the water was fine without it). The p.p. tank is only about 1 foot tall.

If no salt is getting used, and if pot perm is not getting used then the water will start to return to untreated.

Any chance of a photo of the system set up?

I am trying to think of where salt and pot perm are used in the SAME system, and can not think of one.

Could be that the valve is in need of either a cleaning or rebuild or some of both.
