Acid neutralizer for household water system
I am using calcite or soda ash to prevent the degradation of copper and brass pipe and fittings. Is there a risk of a negative effect on iron pipe, pressure tanks or water heater tanks?

Properly used neither should adversly affect components of the plumbing system.
Calcite is "self regulating"--it won't lift pH to high. However soda ash, if injected at too high a rate, can increase pH above desirable levels. |
