ABS vs PVC

Why would anyone use ABS plastic, instead of PVC?

Is there somewhere your required to use ABS or is it always ok to use PVC?

Does it just come down to a cost issue that ABS is a little cheaper?

Maybe its a regional thing. We rarely see ABS in new installations anymore. Can't honestly say why.

hey there abs is required in my area for all new construction from toilet 3'' drain to vent pipe as well as drains from sinks and so on, pvc is good for outside the foundation in a thicker wall version. where abs is not required.

I thought PVC was a higher grade product than ABS plastic?
