ABS Trap Arm to PVC or ABS P-Trap?

This is for a basic wet bar sink. What would be the best option for the P-Trap with an ABS trap arm? Can I just stay with ABS on the P-Trap and thereby avoid doing a PVC/ABS union? Are ABS P-Traps in residential plumbing typically allowed by code?

Use a slip joint trap and you can use any material that is common in your locality.

We prefer PVC for undersink even though we plumb the main drains with ABS.

The pvc looks cleaner, and seems to last a little longer. Tubular ABS gets real brittle over time.
