I am running a drain line for a kitchen sink in the basement. It will have a pump to send water to drain pipe about 30 ft. Away . Is it ok to use PVC white pipe? I see that all drain pipes in my house are black abs. This is in new jersey. Just want to know if there is a reason for abs.
You can use ABS or PVC. Usually it is a locality thing. Some places use ABS, and some use PVC. Check to see what your supply house carries. If you transition from ABS to PVC, use the correct fittings and cement.

well if it is using a pump as you stated you need to use pressure fittings which have deeper hubs "sockets" on fittings so you have more glue area and i have never seen them in abs so pvc might be only choice and i would use heavy duty glue
here are the difference in fittings
