90$ charge to cap off the outlet of valve?

It's funny that home owners seldom think of the over head required for a licensed and insured plumber to just show up at their home. Gas, license, insurance, office materials, vehicle cost, comp, etc... It all ads up. I have to charge a minimum of $69 to cover the cost of doing business. And believe it or not at that rate I hardly break even.

Cleveland runs 185.00 per hour. Don't it suck......

I was charging 135.00 about 11 years ago. I went flat rate pricing.

Flat rate is easier for most people to understand----The travel time is a killer for me--I'm 32 miles away from my main customer base---so a special call costs me 6 gallons of fuel----I don't do service work except for regular customers---and with the understanding that they wait for me to be in the area--or pay 'windshield time'--
