70 year old Elbow Pipe--stripped threading

Hi All,

I have a toilet that is old, but dont have the cash to replace it at the moment.

The pipe connecting tank and pan leaks in one spot. I cant tell if it is the pipe itself or the gasket/sealant. what is the best options for fixing this? is this is a standard piece? The toilet is by Durock.

Many thanks in advance. I am new here.

Can you get replacment parts that fit?

If you can dry it off and press some toilet paper to the pipe before it leaks a large amount, that can help narrow down on although not foolporoolf foolproofly pinpoint the leak.

The good conscientious technician or serviceperson will carry extra oils and lubricants in case the new pump did not come with oil or the oil was accidentally spilled, so the service call can be completed without an extra visit.

Undo the spud nut, you should be able to pull out the gasket that seals the connection. Likely it is 3/4s desintigrated. A plumbing supply house should be able to hook you up with a new gasket.

Consider a used toilet from the 'Re-Store' --Habitat for Humanitys junk outlet.
