Is 4' dishwasher hose too long?

I found this no-burst SS braided Dishwasher hose it is 4' long, is this a typical length? Seems a bit long to me?

the dishwasher is right next to the sink cabinet, but I figure you do need about at least 2'+ to install the line before dishwasher is pushed in, Do most of the lines just ended up looping behind the dishwasher?

Not really, most lines are the size we need.

They come at least ip to 6' for exactly the reason you mentioned. Hard to stretch if they are 6" too short to connect.

No. If they're a bit long they just coil on the floor underneath the dishwasher.

4' is just a manufacturers choice of length. I always use soft copper on DW supply lines. Always better to have more, than not enough. make sure you read any disclaimers that came with the hose. Even tough the hose is SS, the inside is still rubber and can fail. The hoses for washing machines "recommend" replacing ecery 5 years. This does not mean it will fail that quickly, but is a disclaimer to protect the manufacturer.
