3 handle Shower faucet

Trying to remove the stems in a 3 handle faucet, problem is I have no clue who the manufacturer is tried buying the socket set at home depot but non of the sockets fit the nuts the outer appears to be 13/16 but I canít reach the other one because the sleeve extension will not come off how many different size nuts are there on these units.

the chrome sleeve should unscrew. the nut you are seeing is probably the packing nut and will not take the stem out. a picture would help. a strap wrench will sometimes work on the sleeves if you put it close to the wall and not out towards the end. i have had to resort to channel locks on the sleeves but did it tight against the wall so the escutcheon would cover any scratches

Yes that appeared to be the packing nut which is 13/16, problem with not being able to remove the sleeve is, the socket is not thin enough to go inside the extension sleeve and non of the sockets from home depot will fit it so I am not really sure what size it is. Was hoping if I new what size nut it was I could remove the stem and then remove the sleeve at lease that way I could remove the washers and seals and heat it to get it off.
I’ll see if I can get some pictures tomorrow. I tried channel locks but still couldn’t get it to break loose not sure why people put these on so tight you would think they were trying to hold the stem in place.
Thanks for all the help hopefully I’ll get some pictures tomorrow.

usualy they arent tightened that tight but if the packing nut leaks at all the threads get corroded and then makes it difficult to get them off. usually channel locks or a strap wrench worked for me. if you have a standard socket that will barely slide inside the sleeve it would give you something solid to squeeze against without mashing the sleeve with the channel locks. if you cant get it apart i agree with califmonster, put a moen in. i was a plumber for 20 years and the moen was the only faucet that i could fix everytime.
