3" Copper House Main Bath/Toilet Drain Replacement

About 8' long with 12 sweat joints do decouple. The copper sections have become quite thin over 46 years. The brass elbows and T's seam fine.

My question is can two guys using hardware store mapp gas generate enough heat to separate the joints and remove the old sections? Then generate enough heat to sweat in the new sections?

I have considered going to PVC. My concern is I would still need some good copper to couple up to and there is none. I would still need to use heat to replace some bad copper.

A copper penny for your thoughts on this. Thanks

I was in the same boat, but I could cut back to solid and used a fernco to connect new PVC to copper. I cut it out with a sawzall, scrapped the copper and brass. Use an acetylene tank to sweat this large copper.

Yeah, acetylene I might have to use. I just stupidly pushed on it with a screwdriver, it went right through. patched it with a little dab of polycarbonate.
