3 or 4 way shower valve

Shortly I hope to get started on our bathroom rework. We plan to remove the tub and install a shower. We want the regular shower, then a rain shower head over head, plus we want a handy cap, hand held at the shower seat. I want to be able to use each one separately, will I need a 3 or 4 way valve?
