1950s ranch tub - 3" tub drain shoe needed!

We recently had some professional plumbing work done on our 1950s ranch home. The tub is orginal. The drain is 1 1/2" and they put a 2 3/4 D drain shoe (standard) on the tub. Now there is a rust ring (apparently due to some poor tub refinishing work in the past that was previously covered up by our old drain shoe) AND standing water around the drain because of some detail recessing around the drain hole on the tub. We are searching for a 3" drain shoe. Does such a thing exist? Any other ideas. Our plumber says there is no fix. HELP!!!!!

There use to be porcelain repair companies out there. Contact one and see if they can help.

UPDATE: I found a 3" drain shoe with waste & over flow cover on ebay! They also have great vintage plumbing parts at rejuvenation.com. We went down to the store and all of their drain shoes measure 3".
