Question

Termite or safe?

I found this bug crawling on the wall in the wee hours of the morning. It reminded me of an ant... which, since it reminded me of one, lead me to the possibility it could be a termite...?

From above

I measured him to be about 3/16 - 4/16 of an inch.

Any help identifying this insect would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to rule out the termite suspicion... but since it was so small and my camera wasn't so great I couldn't get a very clear shot of him. Thank you in advance!

Termite or safe?

This may help: How to resize photos to post them here.
Your linked photos are huge and my slow connection won't let them load.

Termite or safe?

That's not a termite----Don't know the name but that's a common thing to find in the woods.

He's lost---send him on his way back outside.

Termite or safe?

Don't know what it is, but everyone else is correct-it is not a termite. It's what we call an accidental invader.

Termite or safe?

I concur: Not a termite. Take him back outside where he belongs, and where he'll almost certainly be happier

Termite or safe?

Ah, that's good to know. Quite a relief!

To update everyone on the little guy, shortly after his photo session I released him back into the night... so I suppose we're both quite happy now :D

Thank you all for your help and guidance.
