I pulled up some vinyl in my kitchen yesterday, in front of a glass sliding door, and low and behold I found a moisture issue. The particleboard and subfloor are soaked in about a 2' by 2' square. Have to figure out something to do with that.
Anyway, along the edge of the wood, next to the door, I found a series of these brown dimples in the particleboard which look like some kind of insect nest. Inside the nest there are extremely tiny (like 1mm) mite-looking bugs, some are red and some are creamy white. They seem too small to be termites? Any idea what these are? Never seen them before...
Let me guess, on the other side of that door there's a deck, stoop or steps even or close to being even with the threshold of the door?
Partical board turns to oat meal the first time it gets wet and needs to be replaced with something other then partical board.
