Lawn Gnats

Its my first spring in my new home in long island. I went in my backyard the other day and there were gnats all over the place hovering over my lawn. My lawn def needs work but i know gnats like moist areas, there are no drainage issues from what i can see. Any ideas? Is it just this time of year? Weeds? I have no clue i tried to research can find much info.

If they are simply the outdoor variety of gnat then I wouldn’t worry about it at all. Is there a septic system in the yard? If so, catch a few and see if they look like “sewer flies” also known as “psychoda”.
