Crawlspace & Termites
I recently discovered termites; fortunately, not much damage. Armed w/benefit of advice here, had a local exterminator come and treat with Termidor, all is good.
My next project was addressing my poorly insulated, unconditioned crawlspace. I had contractors in to sprayfoam insulate and they read my order wrong: they sprayfoam insulated the cement walls. They completed the work properly, and went back and sprayfoamed the rim roists and ceiling joists, so that part is good.
Bad part? Now closed cell SPF goes all the way from the ground to the ceiling. I have no voids in the coverage to inspect for termites and I know those buggers will eat through the SPF also to get to the house.
**** So, question is: Do I cut out SPF at the bottom or the top, near the rim joists, to provide exposed cement for termite inspections? And honestly, the more I think about it, the more I want the SPF contractors to come back and do that work...
