what is the best type of recessed light to have a bright living room
I am having to replace my living room ceiling and want to replace old recessed lighting with something more efficient. I have only a low light ceiling fan in the middle of the room and do a lot of reading and paperwork in the living room. There are no options for lamps near the furniture. What type and size recessed light should I use and how many cans should I use. Should I place them around the exterior of the room? I will have them on a dimmer to allow for a very bright room or lower light options. Thanks for any advise.

You already have recessed lights? Why exactly are they not bright enough? Have you thought about going CFL or LED? How many cans do you have and what size is the room? Pics would help a lot.
