Is there any hope for my ugly laminate cabinets?

We will tear them out someday...I knew we'd live with them for a while when buying the house. My kids know the one "drawer" with the cutting board in it (yuck) is off limits! The oddest thing is that someone installed fairly beautiful granite on top of UGLY white laminate cabinets! They even have the cheap white handles/pulls on them still! I've thought of replacing the handles but who am I fooling? Nicer handles on these things isn't much of an improvement. So....do you know of any temporary fixes for something like this. I'm fine with leaving it as is but am getting the itch to want to do something different too.

Thanks so much!

There is a kit you can buy at most any home center. With it there is a tool that you drag over a surface that simulates wood grain and a paint like product. I've seen it used on metal doors and you can't tell until you get close up that it's not wood. It takes a little technique but with little pratice it might be a good quick change until you can remodel.

They can probably be re-laminated.
