I'm currently working on a project involving exposed beams/rafters in my basement. I'm almost certain the rafters themselves are untreated wood. The subfloor supported by the rafters are actual planks, not plywood. I don't want to cover it up with a drop ceiling because I think the planks laid across the beams actually looks really nice (I'll get some pictures up when I get home later today).
I'm looking for ideas or photos from other members of the forum to get my creative gears-a-turnin'. So far, I like the idea of leaving the subfloor planks natural and finishing the beams with a dark color. I also think there's opportunity to get some really creative lighting up there.
I have a ways to go before I actually start treating anything (holes to fill and beams to clean), but it would be nice to get more ideas to think about while I work on the lengthy process of cleaning up the wood.
Thanks in advance!
