wood piece underneath front door sill

Hi all,

How do I remove the wood underneath the door sill in my front door? Do I have to take the entire door off including all the sides to access that piece of wood?

I need to replace it because it's very old. I have a raised porched with a wood deck.

I assume you have a rot issue that requires that to be replaced??? If it is a modern door, with the threshold as part of the jamb, yes, the whole door will have to be removed. If it is an older door with a separate threshold, just remove the threshold.
